Mogale City Mayor Francis Makgatho helps to sanitize the town.

The town is getting serious about sanitization amid the Covid-19 pandemic. TheWest Rand District Municipality and Mogale Response Services teams have already been working hard to sanitize the town and, now, Mogale City Local
Municipality (MCLM) Executive Mayor, Francis Makgatho has decided to get his hands dirty, or rather get his hands clean and help in the cleaning-up effort.

After his office had been sanitized, Makgatho donned a volunteer jacket and joined Scientology Volunteer Ministers to help mitigate the spread of Covid-19 in parts of the town.
The mayor used Decon 7 sanitizer, which Sandile Hlayisi, spokesperson for the Scientology Volunteer Ministers described as, “… the most sophisticated decontamination technology in the world, used as a military-grade anti-germ
warfare solution”.

Makgatho was trained to use the machine and proceeded to help sanitize parts of Kagiso, the Munsieville Centre for the Aged and Disabled, Munsieville Stadium
and ThuroLefa Secondary School.
“These chosen spaces were also informed by work that has already been done across the West Rand by MCLM’s Disaster Management that forms part of the Covid-19 Command Council team where to date taxi ranks, shopping malls, sidewalks and other high-traffic spaces have been sanitized,” a communique from
the municipality read, further noting that, “The Volunteer Ministers have so far assisted more than 34 692 people and sanitized over 150 000 square metres to the satisfaction of the people assisted during this crisis”.
