Day two of the grant payments got off to a good start on today. Some pensioners and people with disabilities were able to collect their grants on Monday but there were long queues and there was no social distancing at pay points.
In Atteridgeville some of the buses that were supposed to ferry pensioners to pay points didn’t arrive.
Social Development Minister Lindiwe Zulu has urged grant collectors to maintain social distancing.
The Department of Transport eased the lockdown regulations for public
transport this week to make it easier for social grant recipients amid
the coronavirus pandemic.
